About us

Clan Crest Silver is very much a "Young" family affair with Roddy taking care of production and design and his wife June taking care of the business side.

Roddy, a native of Inverness, first became interested in creating small intricate objects whilst at Art School in Edinburgh. He decided to specialise in Silversmithing and Jewellery Design and graduated in 1984 with an honours degree. He went on to work for independent jewellers but as time went by he became more interested in sculpting and after carrying out various commissions decided to concentrate on it alone. He set up a freelance sculpting business to service jewellers and giftware companies, which he still runs today. Through doing this, he came across an organisation called the IPG that represents professional craftsmen. He was recommended to apply and is now a fellow of the prestigious Institute of Professional Goldsmiths. He is also an Artist Member of the Society of Heraldic Arts.

June, originally from Aberdeenshire, came to live in Inverness in 1987 and when she met Roddy they soon became the team they still are today. June, a graduate of Aberdeen University, was working as an accountant at the time and it made sense for her to take over the business side of Roddy's freelance undertaking. When their daughter Chloe came along she gave up work to concentrate fully on the family business and family life! Chloe is now also showing a keen interest in Clan Crest Silver and has helped set up the website.
